A good weapon for handling single warriors or adult dogs because each shot makes the alien flinch a second before resuming the attack. The shotshell powerup yields 5 (rarely) or 10 shots, while a shotgun generally holds 10 rounds. Great for facehuggers and chestbursters at moderate to close range. Rarely, this feature will also allow you to take out two facehuggers at once, if they are right next to each other (I've accidentally done it a few times). This weapon inflicts punishment over a wide arc-what might have been a near miss with the pulse rifle scores some points when the shotgun is used (but will not do as much damage as a direct shotgun hit). Controllers with multiple speed settings for the auto-fire function seem to perform best in this regard. You may have to shop around for one that fires "in sync" with the shotgun's maximum firing rate and that doesn't discharge the weapon at uneven, "jerky" intervals. Slow fire rate, but a turbo controller can help here.

Your top weapon until you get your sweaty mitts on the pulse rifle, but still a steady performer to the very last level of the game. You will abandon this weapon as anything but a crate- or locker-opener in the later levels, although it will still take out eggs and facehuggers if you run desperately low on the more potent stuff. The default weapon will keep firing, but not as an automatic, even when your ammo counter reaches zero, but only if all other weapons are also clean out of ammo. I am currently running trilogy.exe to play the game and am attempting to use inst.exe to install.

I thought that installing the game might fix the above problems, but when I attempt that, I get the error, "Alien Trilogy requires 8 megabytes of RAM or more." I adjusted EMS & XMS in the. Windows was unable to restore the state of the network. Is there a way to make this permanent?Įvery time I exit the game, I get the message, "This application was communicating on the network when you terminated it. I have to set up the Gravis Gamepad in Options > Controls every time I start the game in order to use it. Should I be playing Alien Trilogy from a CD to get music? I discovered (quite by accident) that when I have my Duke Nukem 3D CD in the drive when I start Alien Trilogy, the Duke Nukem theme song is played on the Alien Trilogy title screen. Sound effects work, but there is no music. Regarding Alien Trilogy, I have unzipped it to a Windows 98 PC and have a few problems. This is the best website for the good oldies. First, thank you to Abandonia for making this game available.
